After nearly 30 years in a refill bourbon hogshead, the spirit was reracked in 2021 into an experimental Pedro Ximénez Sherry-seasoned Mizunara oak cask from Hokkaido — a pioneering first in the Scotch whisky world. The bold combination of Japanese oak and rich sherry influence imparted an extraordinary depth and complexity to the liquid. To complete its journey, the whisky was given a final resting period in a virgin Mizunara cask, adding further layers of incense-like spice and subtle sandalwood. Bottled at the end of 2021, this whisky stands as a singular example of innovation, craftsmanship, and the alchemy of wood and time.
