Chateau Montelena is an iconic Napa estate and undoubtedly helped place California on the fine wine map when it took out one of the top prizes at the 1976 ‘Judgement of Paris’. The 2009 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a marvellous release with wonderful notes of black berries, dried flowers, tobacco and herbs. Whilst youthfully attractive, Montelena wines have wonderful life expectancy and this should age comfortably for several decades.
