While Clinet can trace its origins back to the late 18th century, the winery more recently shot to fame following the involvement of cult oenologist Michel Rolland. Moving from classically-styled Bordeaux to a richer, riper style, the wine began to be compared with more famous Pomerol estates such as Le Pin, Lafleur and even Petrus. The wine is Merlot-dominant and produces only a small quantity of wine from its 9-hectares of vines.
