Situated near the town of Crieff, Glenturret claims to be one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, with a history that dates back to at least 1775. Over the years, Glenturret has changed ownership several times. It was owned by The Edrington Group for a period and was later acquired by Lalique, the luxury goods company known for its crystal products. The new 30-year-old Glenturret is limited to 500 bottles, created from a search for specific flavours found in five older casks, including European oak and two American oak hogsheads. Bottled at 42.7%, the producers have described this expression as having notes of ripening bananas, prunes and figs.
