Lagavulin is one of Islay`s most celebrated distilleries, known for intense peat smoke balanced by rich, sherried sweetness. This exceptionally rare single cask was distilled in 1979 and matured for 40 years before being bottled independently under The Syndicate label, a release aimed at serious collectors given its age and scarcity. Four decades in cask will have softened and deepened Lagavulin`s usual smoky power, likely bringing dried fruit, leather and maritime notes alongside the peat. A landmark bottle for whisky collectors rather than casual drinkers, best savoured neat.
