Mazoyères-Chambertin 2008 from Taupenot-Merme is a red wine from the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation of Burgundy. This 100% Pinot Noir is a precise reflection of a cool, late-ripening vintage, harvested from 0.6 hectares of very old vines. The terroir`s Bajocian limestone scree provides excellent drainage, which was crucial during the damp 2008 cycle. Following cold soaking and maturation in 40% new oak, the wine exhibits a linear, crunchy red fruit profile and a firm tannic structure that is only now beginning to soften.
