Rauzan-Ségla is a Second Growth Margaux estate known for perfumed, elegant claret, built mainly on Cabernet Sauvignon with a good measure of Merlot. 2009 was a ripe, generous vintage across the Médoc, and this outstanding wine shows complex violet, blackberry, plum, tobacco and spice with hints of truffle and chocolate over a firm but polished frame. Opulent and pure, it has the structure to keep improving for decades yet, and drinks beautifully now with a good decant. A classic pairing with roast lamb or mature cheese.
