Scarecrow is one of Rutherford`s great cult Cabernets, made from historic vines, some planted as far back as 1945, on the valley`s classic alluvial soils. The 2023 shows blackcurrant, dark cherry, graphite and subtle floral notes on the nose, with dense, layered dark fruit, fine-grained tannins and a mineral streak running through the mid-palate. The finish is long, polished and balanced. 2023 is regarded as a superb Napa vintage, and critics have praised this wine`s precision and depth. Best enjoyed from the early 2030s, though it will age well beyond that.
