Bouchard`s Ancienne Cuvee Carnot (the original owners) comes from Volnay Les Caillerets, the House`s very first vineyard purchase in 1775. 100% Pinot Noir with 12 months in oak (30% new), the 2020 shows bright cherry-red colour and a lifted, spicy nose of red berries, cloves and stony minerality. The palate is generous and open-knit for young Volnay, with ripe red fruit, gentle spice and the appellation`s characteristic silky, feminine texture beneath a firm backbone. Best from 2027, with potential to develop for 15 years or more. Serve with duck or mushroom dishes.
