Domaine de la Vougeraie’s 2005 Vougeot Les Cras is a Premier Cru red wine from a site located just above the Clos de Vougeot. This vineyard sits on a steep slope with very thin soil over hard limestone, which typically produces wines of great tension. In the context of the warm 2005 vintage, this site provided a necessary freshness to balance the naturally high concentration of the fruit. The wine is now fully mature, offering a complex bouquet of dried cherries, sous-bois and smoked meats.
