Part of Suntory`s limited Essence of Suntory series, this Yamazaki expression was distilled in 2009 from Golden Promise, a rare heritage barley variety now grown only in small quantities. Bottled at cask strength in 2021, it shows a sunlit gold colour and a nose of mellow barley and honey. The palate is gently sweet, with layered honeyed richness balanced by a faint acidity, finishing creamy and lingering with a bright citrus lift. A fascinating, small-batch bottling for collectors keen to taste how barley variety shapes Japanese whisky character.
