This Yamazaki was matured entirely in new Spanish oak, part of Suntory`s Essence of Suntory series exploring how different casks shape the distillery`s spirit. Distilled in 2009 and bottled a decade later at cask strength, it opens with buttery, crème brûlée sweetness and vanilla before a wave of bold pepper spice takes hold. The palate layers cinnamon and clove over the sweetness, with a background of subtle char, finishing long and wood-driven. A punchy, spice-forward single malt for drinkers who enjoy assertive oak character.
