Mayfair club Maison Estelle set to reopen after alleged firearm incident
Updated: 7 hours ago
Maison Estelle, the Grafton Street members' club, has been cleared to reopen in November after Westminster Council reviewed its licence following an alleged incident involving a weapon.
The club closed in September after the Metropolitan Police asked the council to review its alcohol licence. Officers were looking into claims of threatening behaviour in a nearby street on 19 September, and whether a real or imitation gun had been involved. Nobody was hurt.
The licence was first suspended at a closed hearing, which the club did not contest. At a full review on 20 October, the council kept the suspension in place for a further fortnight and attached extra conditions for when it is lifted.
The club has since confirmed it will reopen on Wednesday 4 November.
Set in a Georgian townhouse dating from 1772, Maison Estelle is popular with celebrities. The club has said the safety of staff, members and guests comes first, and that it has been working with the council and police on its licence conditions.
