This 1978 vintage 18 Year Old carries robust sherry character, with dried fruit, orange peel and old leather on the nose, backed by antique oak and warm spice. Full-bodied and rich on the palate, it shows raisin, dark chocolate and a touch of clove, with a long, gently gamey finish and a final warmth of old oak, dark honey and dried orange peel. A serious, well-structured dram from the later years of Macallan`s 1970s expansion, at the peak of its powers.
