Cos d`Estournel 2008 is a mature-vintage Left-Bank Bordeaux from the appellation of St-Estephe. Named after its 19th-century owner, Louis-Gaspard d`Estournel, the Second Growth Cos d`Estournel is the leading estate in St-Estephe. The wines of the estate tend to include a relatively high proportion of Merlot, however they remain defined by their power, structure and longevity. "This is a classic Cos revealing lots of tannin along with damp earth, black currant, sweet black cherry, graphite, liquorice and truffle characteristics. This medium to full-bodied, structured, firm, broodingly backward, impenetrable effort demands five to six years of bottle age; it should drink well for 20-25 years." Wine Advocate, 2011
