The ultimate Cuvée de Prestige, Cristal was first created at the request of Tsar Alexander II of Russia in 1876, who approached Louis Roederer to make him an exclusive champagne from their finest grapes. Cristal is produced in the very finest vintages and only released after a minimum six years of ageing. The 1994 vintage is remarkably fresh and youthful, boasting notes of toffee, sherried lemon and almonds, all complemented by a lovely toastiness.
